Privacy Policy

Presence ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Xiuling Liu. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the App.

1. Information You May Provide

You may choose to provide input such as text or an image when using the App. You are not required to provide any input to use the App.

This input is used only to generate your mindfulness guidance and is not stored after processing.

2. Location

With your permission, the App reads your approximate location to:

• Show the current weather and time of day in the home-screen widget
• Add brief context to your guidance — the current weather, time of day, season, and your city

Your approximate location is sent to our weather provider to look up current conditions. It is also used to determine your city, season, and local time of day; these — your city, season, time of day, and weather, but not your exact coordinates — are included with your input sent to our AI provider to generate your guidance (see Section 5). We do not store your coordinates. You can disable Location at any time in your device Settings.

3. Notifications

The App can send daily reminders that you schedule yourself; these run locally on your device and require no internet connection. With your permission, we also register a push token (delivered through our push-notification provider) so we can occasionally send you a relevant message. You can turn off Notifications at any time in your device Settings.

4. Photo Library

If you choose to save a moment card, the App writes the image to your device Photo Library. You can revoke Photo access at any time in your device Settings.

5. How Your Information Is Used

To generate your experience:

• Any input you choose to provide (such as text or an image), together with brief context about your current moment — your approximate location (city), local time of day, season, and weather — is securely sent to our AI provider to generate personalized mindfulness guidance
• The generated text may be sent to a text-to-speech provider to produce audio playback

Important:

• Our AI provider receives user-provided input and the brief location, time, season, and weather context described above
• Text-to-speech providers receive only generated text, not raw user input

6. Data Storage

We do not store your input (text or images) or the generated guidance after your session is complete.

We do store limited account-related and usage information:

• Email address (for authentication)
• Voice, pace, and language preferences
• Session timing (start, end, duration, completion)
• Device identifier and platform (iOS or Android)
• Push token, if Notifications are granted

The App also supports anonymous use before sign-in. An anonymous account is created on your device so settings persist, and is upgraded to a full account if you later sign in.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate the App:

• An AI provider — processes user input, plus brief context (approximate city, time of day, season, weather), to generate guidance
• Text-to-speech providers — convert generated text into audio
• A weather provider — receives approximate coordinates to return current weather and sunrise/sunset times
• An authentication and cloud-storage provider — sign-in and limited data storage
• A push-notification provider — registers push tokens and routes notifications to your device
• Cloud hosting and background services — runs our backend, including relaying requests to the providers above and scheduled tasks (refreshing widget content and processing account deletions)

These providers process data only as needed to deliver the App's features.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for advertising or profiling purposes.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information during transmission.

10. Your Choices

• Choose whether to provide input
• Grant or revoke Location, Notifications, or Photo Library access at any time
• Stop using the App at any time
• Request account deletion if applicable

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App means you accept the updated policy.
